Itinerary

  • Day 1 to Day 3: Jaipur

    Village life experience: Relax for the day and experience the authentic village life of Rajasthan. Practice yoga, cooking classes, learn how to keep a cow, and work in a village farm. The Heritage, Food & Crafts expedition: Jaipur is the capital city of princely state of Rajasthan, enamored with stories of glorious Rajput rule and their valor. Spend the first day exploring and understanding the Rajput history, crafts of Jaipur, medieval heritage and local food. Overnight stay will be in village. Own an elephant for a day: Spend a day owning an elephant where you will learn how elephants communicate; participate in preparing food for them, painting an elephant, bathing and feeding an elephant like a mahout. Overnight stay will be in village. Note: Elephants are subject to special care, and no acts of cruelty are performed on them.
  • Day 4 & Day 5: Bundi

    Today we drive to Bundi after breakfast. Bundi is a small town approximately 250 km from Jaipur. It used to be one of the strongest Rajput kingdoms after those of Jaipur and Chittorgarh. Heritage & Crafts expedition: After breakfast, visit Taragarh Fort and Garh Palace. Visit the Bundi painting artists and participate in hands on session on the miniature Bundi paintings. Village and Tribal expedition: Full day visit to the countryside. Explore pre-historic rock paintings from Mesolithic age, tribal villages, and medieval temple built on Khajuraho style. Visit the beautiful waterfalls and take a dip in one of the natural streams to cool yourself.
  • Day 6 & Day 7: Pali

    We continue with our onward journey to Pali where we spend few days with the camel herder and Garasia communities. Spend an evening participating in and knowing how paintings were used as a medium to do storytelling in the courts of the kings. Explore the Ranakpur temple and Kumbhalgarh fort, not by car, but while hiking through the traditional tribal settlements. Stay with local families in the village.
  • Day 8 & Day 10: Jodhpur & Osian

    We move further into the interiors of Rajasthan towards the desert and blue city of Jodhpur. Over the next few days, go with us on a safari into tribal villages of Bishnoi and shepherd communities as we narrate their traditional folklore to you. Experience the local dances and songs which have their own associated stories, and try the local food of this region is very different because of the dry landscape. Explore the age-old Jain temples of Osian and hike/ ride on camel back in the desert to visit the villages of tribes. The countryside is known for its rich bird and animal life. We take you through the trails where you can see deer, black buck, peacock, and numerous birds if you have that taste.
