The Festival of Flag | August 2018 | Divar Islands, Goa      North Goa

7500 3D/2N

When the fields are lush green and the dark clouds adorn the sky, the picturesque village of Divar comes alive…As we roll back the history of this country side island, there are tales that talks about few in this village community getting into loggerheads over property disputes. The Portuguese rulers of that time came up with a solution to demarcate the boundaries using flags or ‘bandeiras’. But the village community as a whole started protesting against this division by knocking down the flags. This historical incident always remained in the memory of these villagers and every year as part of their tradition they celebrate this age-old festival of – Bonderam on 4th Saturday of August. This event is also known as Monsoon festival of Goa as they do their first harvest of the year during this time.

This year the carnival will be held on 18th August 18′.
