Overview

Fireflies, also known as lightning bugs partake in what is perhaps one of the most wildly beautiful natural phenomena in the world. Come twilight, their lower abdomens light up using bioluminescence in an incandescent display of love, hoping to attract the right mate. Bear witness to this luminous spectacle as you spend a two day getaway in the soulful village of Purushwadi. Located in the Akole block of District Ahmednagar, it is situated 220 km from both Mumbai & Pune en route Nasik. A tribal village, it is inhabited by the ‘Hindu Mahadeo Koli’ tribe. Warm and simplistic in their ways, the villagers are skilled animal herdsmen and rice cultivators. Participate in activities that shed insight into their lives or spend your afternoons devouring ripe mangoes, karvandas and jamuns by the river. A confluence of nature’s marvels, village traditions and local culture demarcates Purushwadi as a land of distinct wonder and heritage.
